OMG I have so much anxiety right now, even though I should be in actual awe of Mark's genius. Sheesh, Marlo, I think you bit off way more than you bargained for. I would have been a total complete wreck during this process. Kudos to you all!
Thank you, yes! What we bit off wasn't supposed to be a big as it ended up, so well... As @Kristi Keller said in her post yesterday "Holy shit, what have we done?" --that ended up being my mantra for the early years! haha
Haha! It was exhausting at the time- sorry to give readers anxiety reading it! There were many times I wanted to bail- but not much of an option when most all we invested was there!
Cordero knew his design was great-and it was- but until we got close to build and actual logistics I guess he then was stumped at how to lift giant steel beams on the side of a mountain 20 feet in the air without a crane which he realized couldn’t drive up our 2 mile steep gravel road. 🤦🏻♀️
Classic Triangle lineup project. You learned everything you needed to know by figuring out how to transport an iceberg to Death Valley to solve their water crisis.

Mark is a genius
A nice feat of mechanical engineering. Bravo!
Thank you Ken!
BYOC.... Build Your Own Crane
First of all, are you guys millionaires???
Second, I'm exhausted from reading this 😂😂 That's the kind of thing that would just make me cut my losses and move back home.
I have the utmost respect for you seeing this through.
I'm a little confused about how Cordero glossed over the fact that his design would never work.

I've been on those type of roads before and I marvel that anyone attempts to build anything at the tops of them 😂
You guys never fail to amaze me! Mark! Wow! And the building gods were with you. Kudos on pulling this feat off!!
Thanks Jeanine! the building gods definitely were! (do they have Maya like gods in Costa Rica? If so, they were there!!) pura vida
Incredible <3
Your dad is kinda smart! 😂 as you know!!

As you know, only the best of Purdue’s engineers can come up with something like this! (or our nephew-who went to Rose-Hulman!) 😂
Absolutely!
"Hey David, here's 2,000 pounds". Classic!
Brother John Wills (Mark and my math teacher in high school) would be super proud.
"Give a man a hoist and a wench and he can move Heaven and Earth." - Archimedes
As you know- he’s pretty smart! As are you! And the St X math teaching! 😂
"Nobody died"!! ❤️
Yes! And the dang thing worked- a miracle!
Did Mark also go to Purdue?
Yes! Undergrad Mechanical engineer and a Masters in Industrial Administration
