I have always had a thing for owls! This was a great retelling of your adventure. How lucky were you to have made friends with this particular owl! I love his name. I hope the other hotel guests are still enjoying his presence.

Okay but first, his name 🤣 As soon as I saw your headline I laughed.

Beautiful creatures, aren't they? How lovely that he took up residence where you could always see him 🦉

I love the bujo! He is beautiful and otherworldly. I don't believe in spirit animals, but believe instead we're all one big spirit. Hurting one hurts all.

They are such beautiful birds. We get them here in the woods where we live in Michigan. Specifically, a barred owl, a screech owl, and even the snowy owl. We often hear them at night hooting and screeching. Thurston was a great name for yours.

Thanks Nancy! They certainly are beautiful! In Chicago at the Montrose Bird Sanctuary I was able to see a Long Eared Owl.

So I assume he’s Thurston Owl I? The name is perfect. He’s gorgeous, and the kind intensity in his eyes can be felt through the camera lens.

I’ve always thought owls bring such comfort. After my kids and I moved out of my parent’s house, we bought a house about a block away, so we walked back and forth between our house and theirs routinely. An owl lived about halfway between our homes and we’d hear him hooting, providing a warm embrace as we returned to our house in the evening after my mom made delicious dinners. We’d look up and see him perched in the same spot every night.

All of your bird, sloth and other stories and photos about the on sight life, including plants, makes your space feel so immersive in natural beauty. I imagine that the arduous work involved in creating and maintaining the hotel felt rewarding with the abundant variety of life wrapped around you.

Yes, the 1st! Haha. I’m glad you resonated with the owl. Now if I see one I’m more amazed because I got so attached to this one. That’s what I miss the most- the living immersed so much in nature and all that was around us. Thanks Joy!
