What an honor, Marlo! To be named the world's most romantic hotel! Simply wonderful. And the build-up, how you just worked it--you put in the time to figure it out, put in the hours to do all that marketing, and FIND out how to market it--a true learning curve that you guys mastered. Very impressive. And what a wonderful trip you got too, to London! Cheers!
Reading this made me feel so happy for you guys!!! What a transformation 👏
I can pipe in here and tell you that I have been the travel influencer and it can make a huge difference. I spent a decade receiving comp stays of the most unique and lesser known spots in Jamaica based on my dedication to the destination. I know for a fact that the reviews on my destination blog and socials brought more traffic and new clients to those spots because they were my followers. I watched them do it after I did. Destination lovers are pretty hardcore people lol.
Just by following you this past year and seeing what your place was like, I know for certain that if Costa Rica had been my destination of choice, I would’ve 100% featured you guys. 😀
Great article, and congratulations on winning, My husband and I travel a lot, all over the world. We leave reviews and always read the reviews of other guests. We don't use a travel agent or follow travel influencers.
Thanks Nancy! I also read reviews and now that I don’t own a hotel I can write reviews. We had a guest once say that he only reads the negative reviews of a place and sees when they were (like if they all were years before) and decides from there and then reads the good reviews. I thought that was super helpful.
Yes, I leave hotel reviews. I never use a travel agent, but I have been using ChatGPT of late. I don't follow travel influencers, but maybe it's my demographic. Congratulations on winning in the most romantic category. What a great accomplishment after all that work you put in.
Thanks Ilona! I now leave hotel reviews - they are so important! We don't use travel agents either. I do follow some 'influencers' but they don't sway me to visit somewhere but like you said, maybe it's our demographic and for younger travelers social media is important. I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas!

Thanks Jeanine! It was sure a labor of 'love' and sometimes 'stress'!
Well, I guess! You really farmed every resource, and it paid off.
