Oh my gawd. Your place sounds amazing. I love how you defied set norms and did your own thing. I'm sure people have had a once in a lifetime experience at your little corner of the world.

Thanks Ilona! I sure hope they did also, and based on our reviews I’m pretty sure they did! 🤗

Wow 🤩 the video you shared is epic, Marlo! I can see why some guests cried when they saw it. Your hotel sounds absolutely magical! A lot of what you shared reminds me of a place here in Portland, Jamaica called Great Huts. I offer my yoga and bodywork services there (since 2020) and I even worked their front desk as a guest services agent from December 2021-January 2023. What an experience! If you ever come to the countryside of Jamaica, I highly recommend Great Huts! 🇯🇲

Thank you Deanna! That video we took when we got our own drone-how fun! Never got tired of the views! And, I'll put Great Huts on my to-travel-to-list!

I overstand about never getting tired of the views, Marlo! That view you had in CR was ineffable and pure magic. I have thousands (literally) of pictures on my phone of Jamaican views (often the same ones!) because I just never tire of their magic.

And amazing that you will put Great Huts on your list! You can check out their website www.greathuts.com and I’m happy to answer any questions you may have or link you with them when you are ready to visit. They have treehouses, too!! I love that they have all open air huts in the jungle but are also on the cliffside of the Caribbean Sea so you get the best of both worlds: jungle and ocean (and they have a private beach on Boston Bay!). What fun it would be to have you come here and stay at Great Huts so we can connect in real life!

And yes, that would be a fun thing! It's now on my list! Thanks

Stunning,I am so glad you shared this and sad I never joined you guys during your time! I think it was fortunate and perhaps even written somewhere in the stars that you two should be there for the rebuild ! True stewards of the land and community . Maybe one day I will go and see your hotel in the clouds ! 🥰😳🐦‍⬛🌈🌤️

I'm soooo glad you shared this!!! What a stunning place you had! Hard to imagine it's the same place in all your rebuilding posts lol.

This post was like a medley of all the BEST places I reviewed when I worked in Jamaica. The level of service, the unique ambiance, etc. I was so fortunate to have experienced this type of hospitality over and over.

Amazing work you guys did 👏

Thanks Kristi! We worked hard! We won some awards, had 5 * ratings on TripAdvisor and Expedia and had been (and I believe still are) the #1 small luxury hotel in Costa Rica named by TripAdvisors’ Best of the Best!

That's amazing!!! Believe me, I've reviewed a lot of crap so that is an accomplishment!

Wow! Your hotel was simply awesome Marlo!! So beautiful! And no guest tabs— your staff and you both must have excellent memories. What a lovely experience for your guests. So tailored to their needs and privacy. Felicidades!! Oh, and I totally get no TV. We didn’t have either for quite a long time. We rented a Casa Maya out for several years before moving and told would be guests—Casa Maya unplugged!!!!
