Lordty! Ok, so suggestion for you... guest stories behind a paywall. THAT would interesting because I know you have more interesting ones than these. I'm thinking that honeymoon couple with the projector needed to take a page from the OTHER honeymoon couple with the empty condom box. They clearly understood the assignment. LOL
This one--"but she failed to read our website or heed my advice that there might be insects in the rainforest!" I like that you use the word "might" because, well, I feel "might" should be changed to "will". You're in the jungle. There WILL be insects. LOL I seriously want to move to Costa Rica some day and the one thing I'm not looking forward to are all the insects. I mean, here in AZ we get snakes, spiders, scorpions, etc. I'm not sure what to expect in Costa Rica. I would love to check your hotel, but I don't know if I could handle the insects I might find in your jungle there. LOL. I'd be cool with seeing the animals, though. LOL
And I've heard of people bringing their own sheets, pillowcases, etc. for sanitation reasons. The pad, though, Wow! That seemed a little overkill. LOL
Loved reading this post. Running a business overseas sounds truly interesting.
Thanks Ororo for your suggestion. There are other interesting guest stories and I thought about a paywall, but decided to make all my content free.
And you're right! It's the jungle so yes, there WILL be insects. We did have what you mentioned similar to AZ-spiders, snakes, scorpions but with housekeeping and maintenance, limited those things around guests. They lived mostly in the surrounding jungle but could get a wayward something, sometime! At our elevation we didn't have mosquitoes and I'd say that I've been to places in the US with worse insects than Costa Rica! The animals were amazing-birds, monkeys and sloths. You should visit for that alone!
We did not (even after covid) have anyone ever bring their own pillowcase or sheets but yes, that mattress pad, certainly overkill.
Thanks for reading...running a business in a foreign country had its challenges for sure as you'll see if you read more (or read previous posts also!)
The bug person, in my mind, is the most wholesome of the entire lot because I'm assuming they had a professional interest, or at least a really hardcore hobby. And I guess it was nice that the porn people at least brought a mattress pad instead of wrecking your mattress? But yikes, you had some real gomers!
The bug person may have been a hobby but they were secretive about it and since they tried to take the bugs out of the country, quién sabe? Ha- I wish the mattress pad was from the porn people! It was just from another guest! This post didn’t even touch on the bodily fluids people left behind! 🫣
Oh Marlo, what a display of guests going loco! In rainforests and jungles, one thing I think tourists have no idea of before arrival is the insect issue! Cockroaches are big in MX (and Hawaii) and some are the flying types- the scariest. I imagine you had those too. And rainforests are 'noisy' to some I imagine. All those critters! Well, you certainly will have conversation starters for the rest of your life!
Sometimes when I saw what people did, I always wondered if they acted the same way in their homes as they do on vacation! We had few roaches but many other things-and yes rainforests are 'noisy' for sure! Thanks Jeanine!
I know what you mean! We rented Casa Maya for a few years before we moved down and the caretakers would tell us crazy stories. The funniest was the bride and groom on honeymoon brought maid of honor and best man with them (?) and Felipe said they were so drunk ALL the time, they actually broke the blender( too many margaritas no doubt). That was the only time we asked for any $ back on deposit—$30 dollars—bc Felipe said it was like babysitting messy children. ( hopefully they tipped him well).
Right?!! Yes maybe the honeymooners that brought the projector also wanted to watch porn! Too bad they weren't there at the same time as the ones with the video cameras (maybe filming porn? God, who knows?!)
You should have seen how many dead bugs she had! It was so weird. But people are weird and that's why it's all funny! Thanks for your comment!
People are so strange aren't they 🤣🤣
A king-size mattress topper though, wow! I wouldn't have expected that.
And the open air bathroom. What did she expect 🤣🤣
Oh, and not wanting to see a sloth!
The mattress topper was a first for me! People are strange!

What an education on humanity! Of course, I loved reading about all your weirdo guests. Tell us more!
Oh yes, it really was an education on humanity! There will be more, plenty more guest stories Ilona! Thanks
OMG the porn room 😂😂😂😂
I figured the people who wanted a screen hung in their room and never left, probably were watching porn on that screen lol.
I love weird guest stories. That bug collection lady takes first place.
