Wow. Okay, so i would've never thought about security while living it up in luxury lol. Good on him for even thinking it but I see, execution was a completely different ballgame!! This was amusing 😁
This reminds of the fire drills we'd do at school but more realistic! I like the idea of have a Whatsapp group. In my neighborhood we use one to keep everyone in the loop of any suspicious activity, so it for sure works. Your pandemic story keeps getting more interesting, Marlo. Thanks for sharing!
My heart was pounding as I imagined your “practice runs” turning into medical emergency situations! But I understand the idea behind practicing these techniques so you’re not caught off guard if you’re truly experiencing a horrible event in which you’re your only chance of survival. Wow! What an adventure indeed, in so many ways.
I'm sure you can laugh about all of that now, but I bet it was definitely unnerving at the time. So glad you didn't have a problem with that and lived to tell about it!
This newsletter has taken an unexpected turn! LOL! I've got a new picture of you and Mark in my head, with his hands on your ass pushing you out of the window. I'm glad you were safe there. I am often confused about the security in Costa Rica because I frequently hear about how unsafe it is there, even without considering the pandemic. We went there three years ago and never felt worried until we got to our hotel in San Juan before departing home. There the hotel had a security guard stood outside our hotel, and we were advised not to leave the hotel at night.
It was unbelievable at the time and still now! We were safe-ie: took precautions. Costa Rica really is a safe country-they haven't even had an army since 1949. but yes there are some places in San Jose that aren't recommend to go out at night as petty theft of foreigners can be an issue. That being said-you'd take similar precautions in other cities as well. It's good to be a smart traveler!
Wow, I hadn't considered that you could be targeted! So glad you made escape plans, just in case!
Glad all was safe though. 🙏
Better safe than sorry I guess!
