Welcome! I’m Marlo, just a regular person.  I’m not a writer, nor famous. 

My life started off typically. I married my college sweetheart, Mark, we worked, bought a house, had 2 kids, and raised our family in a northern suburb of Chicago.

But then, we did an unlikely thing.  

While the kids were off to college, we sold our house and cars, gave away most of our belongings, and bought a small hotel in the jungle of Costa Rica!

Why What an Adventure!

When we started this journey, people were curious about what we were doing.  When we lived at the hotel, guests would always ask about our story and how we got there.  So, now after we’ve ended that adventure, it’s time to tell the whole story, what goes on behind the scenes and the people we’ve met along the way.

And for those who ask, ‘what’s next?’, stay tuned for more upcoming, unlikely adventures…

I’ve held various jobs, and volunteer positions in marketing, human resources, fundraising, wellness, and went back to school later in life to earn another degree in dietetics.

I am a yoga and fitness instructor who loves music (gimme a good show tune any day!), reading books, travel, and taking walks in nature! 

Oh, and I also enjoy a good cup of coffee (Costa Rican, of course).
