It’s summer here in the Northern Hemisphere. We’ve been adventuring this summer so my writing has slowed down a bit with more time in between my Costa Rica stories.
Now that we don’t live in Costa Rica and have all-round great weather anymore, emerging from a long Chicago winter to the beautiful summer months now feels like a gift that I don’t want to waste indoors.
I’ve been writing about our Costa Rican hotel adventure on Substack for 1 1/2 years now. I have over 400 subscribers and I still have many more stories to come!
Many readers found What An Adventure through fellow Substacker,
,(Gracias, amigo!) and may have missed earlier posts. In a nutshell, my husband and I decided to give up our “normal” lives in the U.S. to buy a boutique hotel in Costa Rica. We had zero hotel experience and didn’t speak Spanish! We did it anyway.
Over the course of five years we had more challenges and disasters than we could have possibly imagined, but we also had the most amazing experience. We met wonderful people, learned to appreciate a different way of life, and developed a love of nature. Wow - What An Adventure!
So as Thomas Jefferson sings in the musical Hamilton when he returned from France, “What’d I miss?”… here is a brief summary of the Adventure so far….so you don’t have to miss a thing.
Pura Vida!

I've sooooo been loving following this journey! Not sure when I jumped on board but it's been at least a year. So much fun and insight 😊
Since I just "discovered" you and your Substack a few months ago, I will now take the time to read about your adventures from the beginning. My husband and I have often talked about making a visit to Costa Rica -- perhaps one year we will make it there. Your stories are fascinating. Thanks.
